As anyone who has passed through this stage of development knows, pre-adolescence and adolescence involves physical, psychological, and cultural transitions that can be quite challenging and even painful to navigate.

One task of adolescence is reassessing believes that were formed from early wounding, which to varying degrees, none of us escape. These believes become habituated patterns of bodily organization and thought, some of which may serve teens and pre-adolescents, while others may limit or negate their perception of self. Through bringing awareness to and supporting the processing of these believes in therapy, adolescents are empowered in their choices to either collaborate their believes or re-organize and form new ones.

Using narrative, art, somatic, relational and psychodynamic therapy I provide a warm, friendly, safe and supportive space for pre-adolescent and adolescent youth to explore the following issues:

  • Self identity

  • Peer and family relationship challenges

  • Gender exploration

  • Body image issues

  • Academic stress

  • Bullying

  • Anxiety and depression

  • Trauma

  • Grief and loss

It is important for adolescents to know that I respect their knowledge of themselves, they are the experts when it comes to their experiences. I am here to support them in understanding their wants, needs, concerns, and problems without judging them. Therapy is a gift people give themselves because it offers an opportunity for the growth they desire, and when needed, for healing.
