Couples and Multi-partner Counseling

I welcome and work with San Francisco and Bay Area couples of all configurations and sexual orientations toward realizing true intimacy. If there is struggle, growth is trying to happen, it's the perfect time to deepen awareness together with the help of a trained therapist.

There is no greater experience of belonging than to be truly seen by one who loves you. Yet, it is in the safety of this belonging that much of our wounding begins to emerge. During our first few years of life patterns of relating created by attachment, separation, and loss are formed with our primary caregivers. These patterns become habitual, forming the foundation of self perception on physical, emotional, and psychological levels, significantly influencing and impacting our adult relationships. As challenging as it may sometimes be, it is also through these most intimate adult relationships that we find the greatest opportunity to heal our attachment wounds.

My counseling approach with couples is supportive, engaging, interactive, and direct. I was trained in Bill Bowen's Somatic Psychotherapy Approach For Working With Couples. I also incorporate principles of Attachment Theory, a Psychobiological Approach To Couple Therapy (PACT), Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), and Nonviolent Communication (NVC).
